Trossachs Location

Strictly speaking, the Trossachs is the small area of land between Loch Achray and Loch Katrine, Ben A'an and Ben Venue. The Name ' Trossach ' reportedly comes from the gaelic 'an troiseach', which means the bristly ground. You only have to look around the area to understand why.

A Trossachs B&B Personality

One of the most famous inhabitants of the Trossachs was the 'likeable' rogue Rob Roy Macgregor. He was born not far from the western end of Loch Katrine - that most famous loch in the heart of The Trossachs. Some of Rob Roy's most daring exploits took place in the Trossachs; robbing the tax collector, escaping from his captors, hiding the cattle which he and his men had 'lifted' from the wealthy lowlands - the list is endless. When you visit the Trossachs you only have to close your eyes and listen to the sounds, smell the heather, to imagine yourself in those far off days which shaped this small area named 'an Troisichean'
